About

Hello! My name is Megan and I am currently the Reed 1 player for the North American Tour of Fiddler on the Roof, for which I play flute, clarinet, piccolo, and alto flute. I joined the tour in April of 2022 and will continue on through May of 2023. I absolutely love theater and am very interested in continuing to tour–both nationally and internationally–as well as to sub and/or play for longer contracts.

In May of 2022, I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Flute Performance from the New England Conservatory, where I studied flute and piccolo with Cynthia Meyers, piccoloist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. In 2020, I graduated with highest academic honors from Barnard College of Columbia University, where I studied with Linda Chesis and Michael Parloff through Barnard’s lesson exchange program with the Manhattan School of Music. Throughout high school, I studied with Jim Walker, former principal flutist of the L.A. Philharmonic.

I have loved playing different woodwinds in various pit orchestras since high school. Throughout my studies, I played a mixture of high woodwinds for The Drowsy Chaperone, The Addams Family, Camelot, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Wizard of Oz, and Guys and Dolls. I also conducted two musicals during my time at Columbia: Spring Awakening and Legally Blonde.

As for classical music, I won New England Conservatory’s Wind Ensemble Concerto Competition and was able to perform Bruce Broughton’s Concerto for Piccolo and Wind Ensemble in February of 2022. I was chosen as an alternate for the National Flute Association’s Piccolo Artist Competition in 2022. Throughout my time at NEC, I was able to play principal flute, piccolo, and alto flute for various orchestra and wind ensemble performances. I also played alto saxophone in NEC’s saxophone ensemble and clarinet in various conducting ensembles on campus. I was the co-Principal flutist of the Columbia University Orchestra under Jeffrey Milarsky for 4 years. Lastly, I was a YoungArts Winner on Classical Piccolo in 2016.

Outside of music, I have worked as a theater technician for the Glicker-Milstein Theatre as well as an Admissions Representative for Barnard College’s Office of Admissions. When I’m not practicing or performing, you’ll find me listening to showtunes, playing Scrabble, or doing overly-complicated nail art.
